Un confrère publicitaire, mondialement connu, Charles Saatchi, continue de tracer la route de notre contemporanéité. En ce moment, près de la gare de Lille Flandres, le Tri Postal, reconverti en lieu d’exposition, héberge une envoûtante « Route de la Soie » jalonnée des œuvres prêtées par Saatchi. Cette « Silk road » en lacets (de l’Europe à l’Inde et la Chine en traversant le Moyen–Orient) non seulement ne nous lasse mais nous enlace…sur place ! Le visiteur est frappé d’un exotisme boomerang. L’évocation du lointain est vite rattrapée par l’invocation de ce qui nous est proche.

Les artistes collectionnés par Saatchi savent à qui ils parlent. Et ont beaucoup à nous dire. Désormais mondialisé, leur art n’en est pas moins chargé d’urgences. Ainsi de ces « burqa ménagères » photographiées par l’iranienne Shadi Ghadirian ou encore des « grands de ce monde »,  gérontocrates débiles livrés, impavides, aux caprices aléatoires de leurs sièges roulants… imaginés par deux jeunes chinois.  De Subodh Gupta à Havy Kahraman, en passant par Bharti Kher, ces artistes semblent s’adresser à nous, occidentaux qui avons déclenché cette mondialisation mais ne l’orchestrons plus : « vous avez écrit la partition, nous l’interprétons à notre guise ; eh bien, dansez maintenant ».

Après une magistrale expo londonienne intitulée « the empire strikes back » ce printemps dernier, celui qui a lancé Damien Hirst et jeff Koons récidive cet automne et présente un fond encore plus important à Lille. En le contemplant, on se dit que la fièvre de la jeunesse des plasticiens indiens, pakistanais, irakiens, chinois, iraniens… exposés (ils et elles sont presque tous et toutes née(e)s  après 1970) leur fièvre donc, donne à notre société, sa juste température. L’empire contre attaque (à Londres) scénographiait la revanche artistique des indiens sur le territoire physique et conceptuel de leurs ex colons. Tandis que Silk road (à Lille) élargit à d’autres artistes orientaux ce rapport de force inversé et impose avec grâce leur cheminement sur la route de notre soi.
